My Educational and Professional Background
I am a NCCAOM-certified professional and licensed in both Virginia and Maryland since 2024. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Acupuncture in 2023 from the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM), on the Dean's List and with several academic scholarships during my time there. I am currently enrolled in VUIM's Doctoral Program, set to graduate in early 2025.
I am an ARMY veteran and prior to my acupuncture career, I owned Soaring Spirit Yoga, a yoga studio in Occoquan, VA for 11 years. I am a 500 hour E-RYT through Yoga Alliance and became a Registered Yoga Teacher Training School in 2016 for students at both the 200 hour and 500 hour levels.
In addition to yoga, I studied several healing arts before coming to acupuncture, becoming a Level 1 Thai Yoga Therapist, a Reiki Master, and a healing Singing Bowl/Sound Practitioner. Additionally, I am a mala (meditation necklace) maker with a 15 year Japa (mantra) practice. Japa meditation includes reciting a mantra or affirmation while passing a mala between your fingers, one bead at a time. I have made hundreds of malas which I sold both in my brick and mortar studio space and on Etsy. This type of meditation is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance, coping with illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being. Mind and body practices focus on the interactions among the brain, mind, body, and behavior. It is typically done in an upright seated position or can be with specific movement patterns.
I am currently practicing out of Collage Spa's locations in both Fredericksburg and Culpeper, VA. I also have a private space located in Spotsylvania, VA.
