Prior to my acupuncture career, I owned Soaring Spirit Yoga, a yoga studio in Occoquan, VA for 11 years. The idea for Soaring Spirit Yoga Studio was born out of a desire to provide a welcoming space and community where students feel supported in their exploration of yoga and wellness. As a 500 hour E-RYT through Yoga Alliance I studied at both White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA and Beloved Yoga in Reston, VA. I became a Registered Yoga Teacher Training School in 2016 for students at both the 200 hour and 500 hour levels.
I studied the healing art of Thai Yoga Therapy at White Lotus in Santa Barbara, CA in 2015. This ancient and sacred system of healing has roots in yoga, Ayurvedic medicine and Buddhist spiritual practice. It is a unique and powerful system of yoga therapy, which combines rhythmic massage, acupressure, palming and thumbing along energy lines (the "channels" in Traditional Chinese Medicine), and gentle stretching. Like yoga postures and acupressure, it works deeply on the skeletal, muscular, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems. Thai yoga stimulates and balances the flow of healing energy within the body, opens the areas which are blocked, and increases balance and harmony for health, happiness and overall wellbeing.
I am a Reiki Master, studying under Noor Jihan in Occoquan, VA in 2017. Reiki literally translates from Japanese as ‘universal life-force energy.’ As a practice, Reiki is a gentle, relaxing, non-invasive non-injurious, channeling of this energy from the Reiki Practitioner to a recipient, usually done by placing the hands over the body, sometimes lightly touching (i.e. head, hands, shoulders, feet). The channeled energy promotes peace of mind, emotions, and increases the ‘universal life-force energy’ within the body of the recipient. This increase in life-force energy stimulates the body’s own healing processes, and can help decrease pain, stress, and encourage faster recovery from illness and injury.
